Dear Michi,
I know this sounds a bit strange, but I’ve never been able to wear sunglasses because I feel like I can’t hear properly when I put them on. I either spend all summer saying ‘what?’ or getting crow’s feet. Any ideas?

Well Squinty, rest assured your condition is more common than you would think. 1 in 8 people are highly attuned to visual noise and experience the kind of synesthesia you speak of, especially when wearing cheap sunglasses. You may only be able to tolerate the finest sunglass in front of your peepers. So, not to call you a tight arse or anything, but maybe decent sunnies are just what the doctor ordered?
